Julius P. Lis WWII veteran worked for McGraw-Edison Julius P. "Bud" Lis, 85, of Washington, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in Washington Hospital. He was born April 27, 1916, in Tiltonsville, Ohio, a son of Anthony and Anna K. Wioncek Lis. Mr. Lis was a member of St. Hilary Church in Washington. During World War II, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with American Division Battery A 478th AAA Automatic Weapons Battalion in the Pacific Theater in New Guinea and the Philippines. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze star, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Lis was a graduate of ICS and National Radio Institute, and took courses from G.E. Technologies and West Penn Technologies. He was employed by McGraw-Edison as an electrical finisher. Mr. Lis was a member of Canonsburg American Legion Post 902 and a former member of White Eagles. He enjoyed trout and bass fishing and was a longtime gardener. On February 3, 1946, he married Genevieve Zembrosky, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Regis (Rege) Lis of Parkersburg, W.Va., and James (Jay Jay) Lis of Washington; two sisters, Mila Smith of Houston and Louise Ozanich of Bridgeville; and a stepsister, Blanche Sabo. Deceased are two brothers, Pete and Edward Lis. LIS - Friends of Julius P. "Bud" Lis of Washington, who died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at graveside by Houston American Legion Post 902 and Canonsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars 191.
