Mary Irene Kolcun Gorrell, 71, of Washington, died at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, in IHS Greenery, Canonsburg.
She was born July 18, 1930, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of Hermina Shimek Kolcun of Wheeling and the late Joseph Kolcun.
Mrs. Gorrell attended St. Joseph's Academy in Wheeling.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was one of the founding members of the Sunday night bingo program that attempted to raise $1 million for the high school. Mrs. Gorrell volunteered at the school cafeteria and worked at North Franklin firemen's bingo for 25 years.
She was a homemaker.
On January 20, 1951, she married John Gorrell, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, John H. Gorrell of Chambersburg, Richard Gorrell of Royersford and James Gorrell of Wooster, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Kathleen Zawrotny of Jackson, N.J.; a brother, Joseph Kolcun of Wheeling; a sister, Helen Stupapsky of Wheeling; and eight grandchildren, Eric, Amanda and Kimberly Zawrotny, and Christopher, Lauren, Rachel, Ricky and Erin Gorrell.
GORRELL - Friends of Mary Irene Kolcun Gorrell of Washington, who died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 20, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington.
