Member of Church of the Covenant, Washington
Roger E. Sprowls, 64, of Washington, died at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2002, in the Washington Hospital emergency room.
He was born February 14, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Homer and Margaret Carroll Sprowls.
Mr. Sprowls was a member of Church of the Covenant, Washington, where he was a Sunday school teacher, deacon, trustee and youth group leader.
He was involved with Junior Achievement and Washington Homebuilders Association.
Mr. Sprowls attended Fifth Ward School in Washington and was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas, Wyoming, California, Japan and the Philippines.
Mr. Sprowls retired six years ago from West Penn Power Co., after which he worked for CDS and DDI. Previously he had been employed by The George Washington hotel, Pittsburgh National Bank and Family Finance.
He enjoyed his grandsons, airplanes and music.
On August 5, 1961, he married Betty Joyce Garrett, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carie Bashur of Washington and Terie Kasper of Peters Township; and four grandsons, Chris and Mitchell Bashur and Derek and Brian Kasper.
SPROWLS - Friends of Roger E. Sprowls of Washington, who died Saturday, June 22, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, with the Rev. Thomas Hamilton and the Rev. George Dran officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
