Washington homemaker enjoyed reading
Gail E. Pettit of Washington, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a brief illness.
She was born in Brinkhaven, Ohio, a daughter of Allen Albert and Jessie Gail Mellon Jinkens.
Mrs. Pettit was Methodist and a 1932 graduate of Washington High School.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, crafts and eating out.
On March 30, 1934, in Wellsburg, W.Va., she married John Thomas "Hooker" Pettit, who died April 21, 1955.
Surviving are a son, John A. Pettit of Washington; three daughters, Frances Loar of DuBois, Linda Riggans of Washington and Colleen Johnson of St. Clairsville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Chrystal Ott, Terry Pettit, Kelly Rothermund, Jeanette Buriak, Pam McCartney and Jacob Johnson; four stepgranddaughters, Susan Poland, Sheri Williams, Sheila Bryner and Stacey Beatty; seven great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandsons.
PETTIT - Friends of Gail E. Pettit of Washington, who died Sunday, June 9, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 12. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
