General Electric machine operator was WWII veteran
Malcolm E. Blakeslee, 77, of Washington, died at 3:57 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in Washington Hospital, following a two-month illness.
He was born May 13, 1925, in Portville, N.Y., a son of Merle F. and Belle Baker Blakeslee.
Mr. Blakeslee was Presbyterian.
He was employed as a machine operator by General Electric in Bridgeville for 35 years.
Mr. Blakeslee served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and received the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal and Philippine Liberation Medal.
On July 25, 1966, he married Mary Ann Smitsky, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Larry Blakeslee of Carnegie; a daughter, Cheryl Morran of Washington; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley and Brandon Morran.
Deceased are two brothers, Leland and Ronald Blakeslee; and a sister, Barbara Mead.
BLAKESLEE - Friends of Malcolm E. Blakeslee of Washington, who died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10, with the Rev. Fred McCloskey officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
