Glass cutter, U.S. Marine Corps veteran
James F. Ashmore, 68, of Washington, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Kindert Hospital, Oakdale, following a lengthy illness.
He was born September 15, 1933, in Washington, a son of Frank E. and Margaret Mounts Ashmore.
Mr. Ashmore was a 1951 graduate of Claysville High School and was a member of East Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
He had worked as a glass cutter for Duncan-Miller Glass Co. before serving in the U.S. Marines in Korea, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Ashmore later worked as an operator at Brockway Glass Plant 7 until retirement.
He was a member of Claysville Legion 639 and Loyal Order of Moose 22.
Surviving are an aunt, two uncles and several cousins.
Mr. Ashmore was the last of his immediate family.
