Elwood Amberik, 82, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly Richeyville, died January 4, 2008.
He was born September 24, 1925, in Brisbin, Clearfield County, a son of John and Hancilla Martin Amberik.
Mr. Amberik was a machinist for Fischer and Porter Co., in Warminster for 25 years.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Philippines.
Mr. Amberik was a member of St. Andrews Church, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Pennypack Post of the American Legion in Huntington, and a life member of VFW #10240 of Murrels Inlet, South Carolina.
On September 24, 1949, in Saint Hilary Church, he married LaVerne Gogol, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dave Amberik of Myrtle Beach, and Rick (Angela) Amberik of Lititz; one daughter, Darlene (Joe) Brown of Santa Barbara, California; two brothers, Jack Amberik of Lakewood, Ohio, and Bill Amberik of Chardon, Ohio; five sisters, Ruth (Jim) Shoff and Naomi (Joe) Shoff, both of Melbourne, Florida; Martha (Dan) Shafranek, of Palm Bay, Florida; Margaret (Dr. Anthony) Bilchik of Olmstead Falls, Ohio; Barbara (Dennis) Gordon of Marianna; ten grandchildren, Kristie, Renee, Ryan, Brittany, Ashley, Courtney, Meghan, Samantha, Brianna and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Emmalynn.
Deceased is a brother, Donald Amberik.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2008, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with Father Thomas D. O’Neil as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. James’ Mausoleum in Immaculate Conception Cemetery
