Katherine E. Zimmerman, 92, of Washington, died Saturday, June 2, 2007, in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born in Scenery Hill on August 16, 1914, a daughter of Russell Lowell and Olive Mae Hewitt Shrontz. Mrs. Zimmerman was a 1932 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1934 graduate of Penn Commercial. She had once worked at McAnallen Brothers Construction as a secretary and book keeper. She was a former member of Women in Construction. Genealogy was a hobby and she was very interested in Washington County History. Her husband, Howard Ralph Zimmerman, Sr. is deceased. Surviving are two daughters, Ruth ( James ) Stolfer of Washington and Rebecca Knox of Kennewick, Washington; a son, Howard R. ( Patsy ) Zimmerman, Jr. of Granbury, Texas; a brother Willard � Dean � Shrontz of Washington; two sisters, Dorothy Hupp of Sebring, Florida, and Wilma Cale of Washington; five grandchildren, Merri Ellen and Jim Stolfer, Kelly Zimmerman, Tim and Ted Knox; as well as nine great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Thomas and Russell Shrontz; two sisters, Nellie Laing and Geneveive Rhoades. Friends of Katherine E. Zimmerman, 92, of Washington, who died Saturday, June 2, 2007, will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to; Washington Hospital Hospice, Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301 or City Mission, Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
