Edith J. Gilmore

Edith J. Gilmore, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born June 2, 1920, in Washington, a daughter of Taylor and Josephine Rogers Jones. Mrs. Gilmore graduated from Bethany High School and Penn Commercial College. She was employed at Brockway Glass, Plant #11, in Quality Control, for thirty years. After her retirement, she was employed at Claysville Senior Citizens. Mrs. Gilmore was a member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Clyde Austin Gilmore, died in 1978. Surviving are a son, Larry Edward Gilmore, of Cleveland, OH., a daughter, Karen J. (Larry) Johnson, of Washington; six grandchildren, John E. Gilmore, Brant E. Gilmore, Belynda E. (Jason) Laing, Jason W. Johnson, James R. (Tara) Johnson, Jaime Lynn (Adam) Giles; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Josie, Riley, Jonah, and Tyler. Deceased is a brother, William Jones. In the furtherance of scientific medicine and medical research, she willed her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, in West Alexander Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Kenneth Nolin officiating.
