Victor William Riser

August 30, 1928 — April 17, 2004

Victor William Riser, 75, of Washington, died on Saturday, April 17, 2004, in his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on August 30, 1928, in West Deer Township, Allegheny County, a son of William and Emma Shorts Riser. Mr. Riser attended Avella Schools and later served in the United States Navy in World War II, having served on the USS Yancey, USS Mount Olympus, USS Gyatt, and the USS Cone. He received the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Riser was retired from J & L Steel Corporation in Aliquippa. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Mr. Riser was a member of the American Legion Post # 175 and the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church in Washington. On March 25, 1950, he married Betty Lee O’Brien who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Victor W Jr. and Kenneth Riser both of Washington, and Roger Riser of Meadowlands; a daughter Jo Ann Liggitt of Washington; a brother Ray E. Riser; four grandchildren, Stephen and Matthew Liggitt, Eric Corrick, and Amanda Scholato; and two great-grandchildren. Friends of Victor William Riser, of Washington, will be received on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at 2:00 pm, Rev. Robert A. Neal officiating. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Donnell House, Leet Street, Washington, or the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, Glenn Street, Washington.
