Richard Thomas Narus Sr., 57, of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 12, 2005, in his home. He was born May 1, 1948, in Danville, a son of Henry Narus of Houston and Beverly Marquette of Williamsport. His stepmother is Shirley Narus of Houston. Mr. Narus was a 1966 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and was a security guard for two years at Sarris Candies in Canonsburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, serving in Germany. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Expert Markmanship Commendation. He was an avid NASCAR fan. On July 8, 1967, he married Jean Myers, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Richard Thomas Narus Jr. of Avella; a daughter, Tracey Narus of Washington; four brothers, Donald Narus of McMurray, Jerry Narus of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Robert Narus of Boise, Idaho, and Brian Narus of Colorado; a sister, Lora Meerdo of Logan, Utah; and three grandchildren, Destiny, Gabriella and Amarah Narus.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, with the Rev. Ed Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the veterans section of Washington Cemetery.
