Helen M. Kapsi

Retired from Observer Publishing Co. Helen M. Kapsi, 87, of Washington, died at 11:47 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, in McMurray Hills Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 5, 1918, in Washington, a daughter of Benjamin and Josephine Data Ohendosky. Mrs. Kapsi was a life member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and a member of Christian Mothers Society, Polish Club Auxiliary and AARP. She attended Washington High School. On March 18, 1937, she married Vincent Kapsi, who died December 11, 1985. Mrs. Kapsi was a waitress at the Union Grill for 24 years and worked as an executive housekeeper at Washington Manor. She retired from Observer Publishing Co. after 20 years of service. She enjoyed baking and crocheting. Surviving are a daughter, Joanne and husband Dr. Lawrence Romboski of California; a brother, John Ohandusky and wife Betty of Comstock Park, Mich.; three grandchildren, Joyce and husband Chris McKnight of Venetia, Lynn and husband Chris Messman of Georgetown, Mass., and Lawrence Romboski Jr. and wife Rosemary of Cranberry; and five great-grandchildren, Michael and Molly Messman and Macy, Lindsay and Alexis McKnight. Friends were received Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery. The family suggest contributions be made to St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or the charity of the donor's choice.
