Karen Elaine Hunter, 59, of Washington, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004, in Donnell House, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 31, 1945, in Washington, a daughter of Ralph Sr. and Klova Hunt Vorhes.
Mrs. Hunter graduated from Avella High School in 1963 and attended Fort Wayne Bible College for one year.
She was a member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church, where she taught children's church, was an Awana leader and was active in the church choir.
She was a former member of Cross Creek Grange and Pamona State Grange.
She enjoyed family and church activities.
Her former employers were Isaly's, G.C. Murphy Co., Presbyterian Medical Center, Dairy Queen and Grace Bible Christian School, where she drove a van. Most recently, she was a Tupperware consultant.
On November 24, 1972, she married John Leroy (Lee) Hunter, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Ronald L. and Mark E. Hunter, both of Carnegie, James D. and John R. Hunter, husband of Julee, both at home; four brothers, Ralph Vorhes of Carlisle, Blaine Vorhes of Hickory, Edison Vorhes of Buffalo Village and David Vorhes of Chambersburg; two sisters, Charolette Schimansky and Norma Jean Vankirk, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, with the Rev. Clarence Croscutt officiating. Interment will follow in West Middletown Cemetery.
