Jean Craig Barre, 79, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, formerly of Washington, died at 9:35 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Peterson Rehabilitation Center, Wheeling, W.Va., following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 13, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of James Ernest and Ethel Harris Craig.
Mrs. Barre was a 1942 graduate of Washington High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Washington.
On May 23, 1943, she married John S. (Jack) Barre, who died December 3, 1983.
Surviving are a son, Craig S. Barre of Martins Ferry; a daughter, Alia Jane Karras of Wheeling; a sister, Patty Wonsettler of Washington; and three grandchildren, Chris and Kimberly Karras and Jessica Barre.
Deceased are three brothers, James Robert, William H. and Richard E. Craig; and two sisters, Eleanore E. Viehmann and Mary Ann Courtwright.
BARRE - Services for Jean Craig Barre of Martins Ferry, Ohio, formerly of Washington, who died Sunday, April 11, 2004, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Susan VandeKappelle officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
