Roberta Cecil Alrutz, 88, of Washington, died March 29, 2007, in Washington County Health Center, following a lingering illness.
She was born March 27, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant Township, Washington County, a daughter of A.C. and Elizabeth Briggs.
Mrs. Alrutz graduated from Hickory High School and was a member of Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Alrutz was employed by Shanty Restaurant in Hickory, as a cook and pie baker, for twenty years. She also worked at Daddy Pete’s Restaurant for five years.
She enjoyed baking pies.
On March 5, 1940, she married Thomas Leon Alrutz, who died August 21, 1991.
Surviving are a son, Thomas Edward Alrutz and his wife, Sallie, of Washington, three grandchildren, Thomas Edward Alrutz, Richard Kevin Alrutz, and Michelle Faye Alrutz Laskowski; and two great grandchildren, Calie Jo Laskowski and Seth Michael Alrutz.
Deceased are a brother, Kenneth Alvin Briggs, and three sisters, Georgia Powell, Ethel Null, and Dorothy Johnson.
A memorial service for Roberta Cecil Alrutz, who died March 29, 2007, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, in Chartiers Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 502 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Chartiers Township.
