Mildred Elizabeth Magnatto Lackovich, 94, of Washington, died at 5:40 p.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2007, in Donnell House. She was ill for several months.
Mrs. Lackovich was born July 2, 1913, in Washington, a daughter of Michael and Genevieve Tissi Magnatto. She grew up on Mill Street, in Washington.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was a homemaker. At one time she worked at Hazel Atlas Glass for eight years.
Mrs. Lackovich enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren, crocheting, puzzle books, her soaps, the Steelers, NASCAR and flowers. In her younger days she enjoyed attending dances.
On January 10, 1942, she married Matthew Nicholas Lackovich, who died February 26, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Matthew Lackovich, of Washington, with whom she made her home for several years; two daughters, Sandra (William) Shadel, and Judith (John) Ferralli, both of Washington; a brother, James Magnetta, of Washington; two sisters, Adeline Porter, of Washington, and Alberta Wise, of Erie; 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are 2 brothers, Lewis Magnetta and Lawrence Magnetta; a sister, Clara Kadora, and a brother and sister, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22. 2007, in Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, with Father Kevin Poecking, as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Saint James Mausoleum, Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
