Richard E. "Rick" Wieser, 44, of Lakeville, Minnesota, formerly Prosperity, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Lakeville, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 23, 1962, in Pittsburgh, a son of Ernie and Jan Noll Wieser of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Wieser served in the United States Army for three years before being employed by Northwest Airlines, where he worked for 20 years as a mechanic.
He was active in his community--coaching for the Lakeville Soccer Association, volunteering for his church, and volunteering with the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. In his free time, he enjoyed rebuilding cars with his son, Vince.
Admired by many and loved by all for his "make the best of life" attitude, he will be sadly missed by many.
On March 20, 1982, he married Michele Cumer, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Vincent Wieser, and a daughter, Amanda Wieser, both at home; two sisters, Linda Wieser of Haymarket, Virginia, and Sandy (Bryan) Culley of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received 3 to 8 p.m., the time of service, Monday, March 12, 2007, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for Amanda and Vinces Education Fund (Michele Wieser, 20801 Jamestown Avenue, Lakeville, MN 55044.)
____
You can shed tears that he’s gone,
Or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes
and pray he'll come back,
Or you can open your eyes
and see all that he has left you.
Your heart can be empty
because you can't see him,
Or your heart can be full
of the love you've shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow
because of yesterday.
You can remember him
and only that he’s gone,
Or you can cherish his memory
and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he'd want;
Smile, open your eyes, love and journey on.
