Arthur J. Invernizzi

Arthur J. Invernizzi, 89, of Washington, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002.
He was born August 16, 1913, in Erie Mine (Burgettstown), a son of John and Catherine Pomi Invernizzi.
Mr. Invernizzi worked in a coal mine and with the railroad system in his early years. He also worked as a foreman for Rust Construction and at Western State School and Hospital.
He owned and operated Art's News in Burgettstown and Art's Hotel in Houston.
In 1981, Mr. Invernizzi retired as a foreman for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was a member of Strabane SNPJ Bowling League and several area organizations.
Mr. Invernizzi was an accomplished musician and was known for his accordion music during the 1930s. He had opened for several famous singers, including Dean Martin.
In 1944, he married Helen M. Zuzul, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathy Smith of McMurray; a son, Dr. John Invernizzi of Washington; two granddaughters, Rachel Comfort and Chelsey Smith; two grandsons, Jeremy and Ryan Smith; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Robert L. Invernizzi; and two brothers, Joseph and Emmett Invernizzi.
Services were private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment was private in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. Donations may be made for memorial books at Citizens Library in Washington. William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington, was in charge of arrangements.
