Lucy Lydia Aloia, 84, of Bridgeville, formerly of Washington, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 in Country Meadows Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Penowa on July 18, 1919, a daughter of Robert and RoseLee Vandel Bennett. Mrs. Aloia had attended Turney School in Penowa, was a graduate of Penn Commercial Business School, and had worked more than 25 years in the Washington Hospital Business Office. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was formerly a member of the Christian Mothers. She enjoyed her grandchildren, reading and gardening.
On October 5, 1942 she married Patsy Henry Aloia, who died on November 27, 1997. Surviving are a son, Robert Aloia of Washington; a daughter, Patricia Cuff of Palm Harbor, Florida; a brother, Paul Bennett of Burgettstown; two sisters, Rose Schafer of Maspeth, New York, and Mary Miller of Avella; seven grandchildren, Derek, Devin, Dalen, Dayna, and Darin Cuff, and Ryan and Steven Aloia;
Preceding her in death is a brother Joseph Bennett.
Friends of Lucy Lydia Aloia, 84, of Washington, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Saint James Mausoleum at Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery.
