Audrey M. Colon, 72, of Washington, died on Friday, March 19, 2004 in the Donnell House following a 2 ½ year illness. She was born on February 22, 1932, in Richeyville, a daughter of Andy and Dorothy Mains Sustrick, Jr. Mrs. Colon was a graduate of Centerville High School, California University, The Washington Hospital School of Nursing having become a Registered Nurse, and had attended Duquesne University. She had worked as the Head Nurse in The New Born Nursery at Washington Hospital from 1953-1963. Later, she taught at the Washington Hospital School of Nursing for several years prior to becoming the school nurse at Trinity High School and remaining there for 17 years. Mrs. Colon also was co-owner of Pluto’s Auto Sales in Tylerdale. She was a member of the Washington Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Northern Panhandle Antique Car Club, A.A.R.P., Buffalo Grange, and the North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church.
On October 5, 1955 she married John R. “ Pluto “ Colon who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Eleanor “ Kay “ Estep of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, and several Nieces and Nephews. Preceding her in death is a brother, Andrew W. Sustrick.
At the request of the deceased, no public visitation or services will be held. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Washington Cemetery.
