Vietnam veteran was diesel mechanic Rodney A. Cowden, 51, of Crafton, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Aspinwall Veterans Hospital, following a two-year illness. He was born July 11, 1950, a son of Robert R. and Lois Lee Cowden of Avella. Mr. Cowden was a 1969 graduate of Avella Area High School. He served in U.S. Army during Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star. Mr. Cowden was last employed as a diesel mechanic at Joe Curtin Truck Service. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a son, Robert Cowden of Mt. Lebanon; a daughter, Senior Airman Beth Ann Colevin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Leslie Danley of Avella; and a nephew. Deceased are a brother, Kenneth Cowden; and a nephew. COWDEN - Friends of Rodney A. Cowden of Crafton, who died Saturday, June 15, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held Wednesday, June 19, at a time to be announced. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hickory. The family requests memorial donations to American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
