William Clinton Alrutz, 91, of Washington, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Washington County Health Center, Washington. He had been in failing health.
He was born February 7, 1911, in Hickory, a son of Charles and Martha Briggs Alrutz.
Mr. Alrutz was a member of Avery United Methodist Church, where he had served as custodian for 30 years. He also was a member of the church dartball team.
He was employed as a butcher by American Foods for 35 years.
On October 20, 1973, he married Catherine Mitchell, who died September 28, 1992.
Surviving are a son, David E. Alrutz of Claysville; a stepson, William Burke of Washington; a stepdaughter, Arlene Frank of Washington; two grandchildren, Amanda and Stephanie Alrutz; 10 stepgrandchildren, Rebecca, Michelle and William Burke, Gary, Robert and Nicholas Marshman, Sherry Cottrel, Brittany Lemley and Cora and Sara Frank.
Deceased are a stepson, Robert Marshman; a stepgrandson, Thomas Marshman; five brothers, Charles, George, Louis, James and Thomas Alrutz; and a sister, Elizabeth Riggle.
ALRUTZ - Friends of William Clinton Alrutz of Washington, who died Thursday, June 6, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 2 p.m., the hour of services, Saturday, June 8, in William G.
