Paul E. Young, 85, of Washington, died Friday, July 23, 2004, in Canonsburg Hospital following short illness. He was born in Washington on November 16, 1918, a son of Oscar Wilson and Annie Heidelmeier Young. Mr. Young was a 1936 graduate of Trinity High School and had attended Washington & Jefferson College. Mr. He served the United States Army-Air Force in World War II as a Pilot having flown B-24 missions in the Pacific Theater. Additionally, he later served as a pilot in the Air National Guard and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Mr. Young was a Foundry worker having started at Washington Tin Plate prior to spending 29 years at Washington Mould & Foundry which later became Wadsworth Foundry during which time he worked his way to Plant Superintendent. Additionally, he worked at Crile Machine, Moly Corporation, and last at National Annealing Box until they closed. Mr. Young co-owned and operated Young’s Skate Shop, Inc. with his wife and had gained a national reputation for making custom ice skates. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Washington having served as a youth group advisor and council member. He was a member of Sunset Lodge # 623 and had served as a past master. Additionally, he was a life member of the Washington Chapter # 150 , Washington Council # 1, Jacques Demolay Commandry # 3, The Syria Temple, and was a Life Member of the Valley of Pittsburgh, The American Foundrymans Society- Pittsburgh Chapter as a Service Life Member, American Legion Post # 175, and was a Life Member of the Mt. Lebanon Figure Skating Club. On November 24, 1951, he married Jean Albright who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Margaret A. “ Peg “ Young of Boulder, Colorado; a brother, Earl R. “ Pete “ Young of Washington; two sisters, Agnes Powell and Elma Barnhart both of Washington. Mr. Young is preceded in death by three brothers, Charles A., George W. and William O. Young; and two sons, Paul E. Young, Jr., and Ronald Bruce Young. Friends of Paul E. Young, 85, of Washington, will be received from 7 to 9 pm Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Monday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at 11:00 am in the First Lutheran Church, North Franklin & West Walnut Streets, Washington, Rev. Kenneth N. Schott officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Lutheran Church or the Charity of donors choice. Full military honors graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 of the American Legion.
