Self-employed construction worker and farmer
James C. Africa, 39, of Prosperity, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, in his home, following a lengthy illness.
He was born June 22, 1962, in Fort Meade, Md., a son of Grace Lillian Clark Africa of Prosperity and the late William Joseph Africa Sr.
Mr. Africa attended Canon-McMillan schools.
He was self-employed as a construction worker and farmer.
Mr. Africa was active in various area motorcycle groups and enjoyed cooking at charitable fund-raising events.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are four stepsons, Christopher Africa of Prosperity and James L., Joshua P. and Mark D. Hatfield, all of Prosperity; two brothers, William Africa Jr. of Canonsburg and Glenn Africa of Washington; five sisters, Linda Carlisle of Washington, Patty Ann Silose of New Mexico, Brenda Huber of Washington, Gracie Africa of Canonsburg and Darlene Carlisle of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is his stepfather, Henry Rittnour.
