Jay R. Allison, 83, of Hickory, died Thursday, October 10, 2002, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington.
He was born June 4, 1919, in Hickory, a son of Willard K. and Jane McCreary Allison.
Mr. Allison was self-employed as a plumber and owned and operated Jay Allison Plumbing in Hickory for 58 years.
He was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church, Hickory Lions Club, Hickory Volunteer Fire Company and Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Mr. Allison was a graduate of Hickory High School and attended Bucknell University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a first lieutenant.
On May 1, 1947, he married Lucille Bell, who died January 6, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Jay R. Allison Jr. of Bethel Park and Jeffrey B. Allison of Hickory; two sisters, Marion M. Hoon of Sun City, Ariz., and Ruth Thompson of Convent Station, N.J.; and four grandchildren, David J., Elizabeth A., Jesse A. and Sarah R. Allison.
Deceased are a brother, W.K. Allison Jr.; and a sister, Martha Jane Little.
