Independent Baptist taught Sunday school
Florence Virginia Shipley Mounts, 79, of Washington, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, following a lengthy illness.
She was born February 13, 1923, in McKeesport, the only child of Charles and Elizabeth Ludwig Shipley.
Mrs. Mounts was a graduate of Trinity High School.
She was an Independent Baptist and sang in a choir, taught Sunday school and enjoyed reading her Bible.
Mrs. Mounts enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and visiting with her family.
On March 28, 1944, she married James A. Mounts, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, James A. Mounts and Sandra L. Halverson, both of Claysville, Nancy K. Ricker of Dallas, Texas, Donna J. Thomas of Port Washington, N.Y., and Diana L. Smith and Gary E. Mounts, both of Washington; 16 grandchildren, James, Mark, Michael, Karis, Hannah, Joanna, Leanna, Anna Lisa, Melissa, Charles, Kevin, Gail, Timothy, Daniel, Jeffrey and Brian; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two grandsons, Nathanael and Jonathan Thomas.
MOUNTS - Friends of Florence Virginia Shipley Mounts of Washington, who died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, with Dr. John Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
