Inspector at Jessop Steel during World War II
Louise E. Wheeler, 79, of Washington, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a brief illness.
She was born April 25, 1923, in Point Marion, a daughter of George and Elsie Evans Friedman Carey.
Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church and a graduate of Washington High School.
During World War II, she served in the U.S. Navy as an inspector at Jessop Steel. She also worked for A&P and from 1969 to 1985 was employed by Washington County.
On September 4, 1944, she married Harry Franklin Wheeler, who died March 3, 1980.
Surviving are a daughter, Janet W. Kademenos of Washington; a brother, George E. Carey of Painesville, Ohio; two sisters, Betty van Torre of Detroit, Mich., and Mary Emma Porter of Washington; two grandchildren, Dayna Gregg and Robert Kademenos; and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Patricia Louise Garrett; and a son, Harry Carson Wheeler.
WHEELER - Friends of Louise E. Wheeler of Washington, who died Saturday, September 21, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, with the Rev. Paul Harrington officiating. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
