Served in U.S. Army during the Korean conflict
Walter Hallam, 70, of Prosperity, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002, in Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 29, 1932, in Lagonda, a son of Wilbur D. and Lena Hatfield Hallam.
Mr. Hallam was employed as a bricklayer with Bricklayers Local 11 until his retirement.
He was a member of Anawanna Hunting and Fishing Club.
During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman.
On June 27, 1952, he married Patricia Louise Hickman, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah A. Otruba of Prosperity and Kathy J. Nelson of Bradford; three sisters, Esther Gamble and Bertha Taylor, both of Washington, and Leona Livi of Eighty Four; four grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Fisher, Julie Gray and Amy Kraushaar; and five great grandsons.
Deceased are two brothers, Warren and James Hallam; and a sister, Jennie Iverna Hallam, who died at age 2.
HALLAM - Friends of Walter Hallam of Prosperity, who died Saturday, September 21, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, with Larry Deemer officiating. Interment will be in Prosperity Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Washington Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
