Truck driver for Blacktop Paving
Lawrence E. Kerns, 58, of Claysville, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Washington Hospital, following a three-month illness.
He was born August 14, 1943, in Washington County, a son of the late Thomas and Ada Kennedy Kerns.
Mr. Kerns was Baptist.
He worked for more than 20 years as a truck driver for Blacktop Paving.
A member of National Rifle Association, Mr. Kerns loved dogs.
On May 10, 1964, he married Judy L. Doak, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Tim Kerns of West Liberty, W.Va.; two daughters, Penny Durila of Washington and Robin Kerns of Pittsburgh; a sister, Harriett Melvin of Steubenville, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Melissa, Timothy, Ethan and Ada Kerns and Jaime, Christopher and Nicholas Durila.
A sister, Martha Phillips, is deceased.
KERNS - Friends of Lawrence E. Kerns of Claysville, who died Thursday, July 4, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m., the hour of service, Sunday, July 7, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Mary J. Sprowls officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
