Edward B. Selway, 89, of Washington, died at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, November 28, 2002, in Hawthorne Woods Assisted Living, Washington.
He was born May 12, 1913, in Washington, a son of Jarvis J. and Emma Mae Isenberg Selway.
Mr. Selway was a member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church and served as a deacon.
He was employed by Washington Steel as an operator on the polisher for 32 years before retiring in May 1978.
Mr. Selway was a member of Old Timers Baseball Organization and Washington County Hall of Fame, in which he was inducted in 1987.
He was an avid golfer and played professional baseball for eight years.
Mr. Selway attended Washington High School.
On May 16, 1936, he married Kathleen Hague, who died January 26, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Selway of Washington and Edward M. Selway of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Dian Cataldo and Darlene D'Oro; and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Robert B. Selway; and three sisters, Carrie S. Templeton, Ruth S. Nichol and Gertrude Selway, and a sister who died in infancy.
SELWAY - Friends of Edward B. Selway of Washington, who died Thursday, November 28, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m., the hour of service, Saturday, November 30, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. David Mansfield officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
