Jessop Steel retiree was Navy veteran of WWII
Paul James Wagner, 84, of Canonsburg, formerly of Washington, died Monday, November 4, 2002, in Washington Hospital, following a two-year illness.
He was born July 2, 1918, in Washington, a son of Harold P. and Florence Bailey Wagner.
Mr. Wagner served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and retired as a roller at Jessop Steel in Washington.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 687, Veterans of Foreign Wars Hawkins Post 927 and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
Mr. Wagner was twice married. His first wife, Judy Hurzon, died in 1996. His second wife, Lillian Louise Phillips, died in 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Penny Curry of Claysville and Paulette Phillips of Washington; a brother, David Wagner of Washington; a sister, Marion Johnson of Washington; four grandchildren, Jack Curry, Robert Welsh III, Lucas Stolze and Rachel Phillips; and a great-grandchild.
A brother, Frank Wagner, is deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 15, in Washington Cemetery, with military rites accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
