Miller B. Strawn, 90, of South Franklin Township, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, in the Donnell House following a brief illness. He was born in Morris Township on May 15, 1914, a son of James Milton and Jennie Catherine Johnson Strawn. Mr. Strawn was a member of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church. He had worked more than 34 years as a Ladle Man at Jessop Steel prior to retirement. He enjoyed yard work and farming.
On April 17, 1934, he married Ruth Margaret Thomas,, who died on October 10, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Robert M. Strawn of Prosperity; two daughters, Betty Strawn of Washington, and Kathryn Beer of Winchester, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Alan, Linda, Randy, Gerry, Danny, and Eric Beer, James Strawn, and Rebecca Smith; eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are five sisters, one brother, and one grandson, Jay R. Beer.
Friends of Miller B. Strawn will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 11:00 am. Pastor David Falvo officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. The family requests memorial donations be made to: Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, RD # 1, Amity.
