Retired organist for First Baptist Church
Jane B. Baker, 82, of Amwell Township, died Friday, October 18, 2002, in Canonsburg General Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born December 8, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of Franklin Harwood and Dorris Showalter Bond.Mrs. Baker attended Denison University, Granville, Ohio.
She once worked as the organist at West Washington Methodist Church and was retired from First Baptist Church, Washington, as the organist and choir director.
Mrs. Baker taught piano in her home for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she belonged to Ruth & Fidelity classes as well as Women's Missionary Circle.
Mrs. Baker also was a member of Monday Music Club of Washington.
On September 1, 1950, she married Richard Y. Baker, who died December 14, 2001.
Surviving are two sons, Richard Harwood Baker of Washington and Timothy Bond Baker of Fitchburg, Mass.; a daughter, Kate Baker Tweedy of Fitchburg; five grandchildren, Jessica and Eliza Tweedy, Jason Baker and Amanda and Jennifer Vreeland; five great-grandchildren; and her first husband, Gordon I. Norton Jr.
