Children's apparel retailer enjoyed cooking
Margaret Spossey, 87, of Washington, died Friday, October 18, 2002, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 5, 1915, in Fayette County, a daughter of Michael and Pauline Farro Chambers.
Mrs. Spossey was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington and its Christian Mothers.
She was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Mrs. Spossey once worked as a manager of the children's department of Lerner's and later worked at Bon-Ton children's store.
On July 4, 1934, she married Louis E. Spossey, who died November 3, 1998.
Surviving are a son, L. Anthony "Sonny" Spossey of Washington; a daughter, Bernadette Adams of Washington; a sister, Rose Congelio of Masontown; five grandchildren, Mark and Wray Spossey, Lisa Spossey Gorby and James and Brad Bissell; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Buzzy Chambers; and four sisters, Jennie Carpinelli, Julia Pompeselli, Minnie Deligatti and Mae Brach.
SPOSSEY - Friends of Margaret Spossey of Washington, who died Friday, October 18, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, October 21, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas O'Neil as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
