Ida Therese Ewing Allen, 79, of Washington, died at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2002, in Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 4, 1923, in New Kensington, a daughter of Ellot and Margaret Hamilton Young.
Mrs. Allen was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Women's Guild.
She formerly worked for RCA in Meadow Lands, Montgomery Ward and Hazel Atlas Glass Plant 1.
Mrs. Allen enjoyed crocheting, needlework and crafts.
She was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School and a graduate of Penn Commercial College.
Mrs. Allen was married twice. In January 1942, she married Clifford D. Ewing, who died in 1971. In 1976, she married William E. Allen, who died May 27, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Clifford D. Ewing II of Washington; two daughters, Bonnie J. Bird and Verna J. Kendall, both of Washington; a niece whom she had raised, Sharon E. Reed of Boynton Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
ALLEN - Friends of Ida Therese Ewing Allen of Washington, who died at 2:05 a.m. Thursday, December 26, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the time of services, Saturday, December 28, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Anne Howe officiating. Entombment will be in Washington Cemetery Mausoleum.
