86-year member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church
Myrtle Marquis Reedy, 98, of Strabane Woods, Washington, formerly of Hickory, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2002, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington, following a brief illness.
She was born October 10, 1904, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Kirk and Alice Caldwell Marquis.
Mrs. Reedy was a homemaker.
She was a 1925 graduate of Hickory High School and was one of only two living graduates of the school.
Mrs. Reedy was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church for 86 years and had served as a deacon, a member of its Worthwhile Sunday School Class and was a life member of Hickory Presbyterian Women, formerly known as Missionary Society.
She was a former member of Hickory Women's Club and Farm Women's Club.
On June 10, 1925, she married Hiram Edward Reedy, who died April 8, 1969.
Surviving are a son, William E. Reedy of Washington; a daughter, Elaine R. Caldwell of Hickory; six grandchildren, Gregory J. and Douglas S. Caldwell, Michelle Caldwell Pintar, Cynthia Reedy, Pamela Reedy Heron and William E. Reedy Jr.; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Lela Marquis and Bernice Sellars.
REEDY - Friends of Myrtle Marquis Reedy of Strabane Woods, Washington, formerly of Hickory, who died Thursday, December 19, 2002, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the hour of service, Sunday, December 22, in Hickory United Presbyterian Church, 210 Main Street, Hickory, with the Rev. Douglas Reinard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. The family requests memorial donations to Hickory United Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington.
