Former Minister of the Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Frank A. Fischer, 81, of Washington, died Monday, May 28, 2007, in the Washington Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born on August 22, 1925, in the Bellevue section of Pittsburgh, a son of Frank F. and Elizabeth Borza Fischer.
Rev. Fischer graduated from Oliver High School in 1943 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. During World War II, he was stationed in England and served as a Chaplain's Assistant.
Following his discharge, Rev. Fischer earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Waynesburg College and a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh (then Western) Theological Seminary. He served as a student minister for a four year period at Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church prior to his Ordination in 1957. He remained at the Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church until his retirement in 1991. Additionally, he served as a Stated Supply Minister at the Lower Ten Mile Presbyterian Church in Amity as well as the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Ten Mile.
On June 21, 1953, he married Marjorie Baker (who was from Amity), who survives. Also surviving are a daughter. Lynn Baker Fischer of Washington; two sons, Mark Hamilton Fischer of New York and Brett Wiley ( Kathleen Joan Shaler ) Fischer of Washington; and a grandchild, Danielle Elizabeth Fischer.
Deceased in addition to his parents are a younger brother Norman F. Fischer and younger sister Elizabeth Theresa Fischer.
Friends of Rev. Frank A. Fischer, 81, of Washington, who died Monday, May 28, 2007, will be received on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Dr. David Bleivik and Nathaniel Roe co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Lower Ten Mile Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Amity. Full Military Honors graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 American Legion.
