Washington homemaker enjoyed travel Nellie Mayhut, 92, of Washington, died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2002, in Washington Hospital. She was born June 18, 1910, in Ellsworth, a daughter of Michael and Nellie Yelesavitch Muscavitch. Mrs. Mayhut was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Christian Mothers and was a longtime member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was a homemaker whose hobby was travel, and she traveled extensively, including going on several cruises. Mrs. Mayhut enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making quilts, crafts and playing cards. On June 23, 1936, she married Frank Joseph Mayhut, who died May 4, 2000. Surviving are two sons, Francis L. Mayhut of Pittsburgh and Joseph M. Mayhut of Granite Bay, Calif.; a daughter, Loretta Mirto of Westport, Conn.; two brothers, Lee Muscavitch of Rices Landing and Edward Muscavitch of California; three sisters, Frances Giles of Millsboro, Emma Roban of Washington and Elsie Mayhut of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Velia and Christina Mirto and Caitlin Mayhut; two stepgrandchildren, Dana Zarou and James Wilson; and three stepgreat-grandchildren., Deceased are two brothers, Michael and Pete Muscavitch; and three sisters, Lena Muscavitch, Helen Mucko and Ann Muscavitch. MAYHUT - Friends of Nellie Mayhut of Washington, who died Tuesday, December 17, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with the Rev. Kevin McKnight as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg R.D.1.
