WWII veteran owned His & Hers Hairdresser
Francis "Buck" DonGiovanni, 80, of Washington, died Friday, July 16, 2004, in his home. He had been ill for a month.
He was born December 4, 1923, in Vandergrift, a son of Vito and Florence Scrima DonGiovanni.
Mr. DonGiovanni was a member of Central Assembly of God Church in Houston.
After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. DonGiovanni was a graduate of Mason-Frederick Beauty Academy. He and his wife were owner/operators of His & Hers Hairdresser in Washington.
On September 28, 1952, he married Alma Jean Zenner, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Randy DonGiovanni of Michigan; three daughters, Francine Mitchell of Edwardsburg, Mich., Jolie Mitchell of Battle Creek, Mich., and Cindy Tomsic of Canonsburg; two brothers, Michael Donne of Oakmont and Savere DonGiovanni of West Mifflin; a sister, Chris Leonard of Glenshaw; and six grandchildren, Brent, Tiffany and Ryan Mitchell, Brittany and Colton Tomsic and Aubrey Shore.
A sister, Marie Turano, is deceased.
DonGIOVANNI - Friends of Francis "Buck" DonGiovanni of Washington, who died Friday, July 16, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, with Pastor Ralph Volpe officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
