Della Caldwell Tarr Sprowls

Arizona resident formerly of Washington Della Caldwell Tarr Sprowls, 85, of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born February 14, 1919, in Washington, a daughter of Samuel Sr. and Della Grimes Caldwell. Mrs. Sprowls was a member of First Christian Church in Washington and East Mesa Christian Church in Arizona. She was a graduate of Trinity High School and a worked as a teacher's aide for the handicapped in the Intermediate Unit at Clark School in Washington and in the cafeteria at Trinity High School. Mrs. Sprowls was a member of Buffalo Grange, Rebecca Hogue Lodge and Washington Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed making jewelry, word-scramble books and dancing. On November 19, 1938, she married Glenn Alexander Tarr, who died October 5, 1980. On October 12, 1988, she married Royal Lynn Sprowls, who died January 16, 1998. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth Megyesy of Apache Junction; two stepdaughters, Cinda Schurr of Ellington, Fla., and Sandy Fien of Washington; a stepson, Gary Sprowls of Amity; a brother, Samuel Caldwell Jr. of Washington; two sisters, Roxie Felton of Washington and Darlene Cunningham of Wellsburg, W.Va.; and 10 grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Ricky Tarr; three brothers, Roger Kenneth, Ralph H. and Joseph George Caldwell; and five sisters, Delphia Rush, Frieda Deems, Dorothy Johnson, Cleo Wakefield and Effie Jane Burk. SPROWLS - Friends of Della Caldwell Tarr Sprowls of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Washington, who died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, with the Rev. Paul Leone officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
