Lawrence Thomas Tender, 60, of Washington, died at 6 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2007, in his home. He had been ill since December 2006. He was born August 17, 1946, in Avella, a son of Vincent and Helen Allison Tender. Mr. Tender graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1966 and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Burgettstown. He enjoyed helping people. Mr. Tender was employed as a car man at EJ & E Railroad of Illinois for 31 years. On September 7, 1968, he married Elizabeth Malek, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary and Diane Tender, both at home; three brothers, Vincent (Bonnie) Tender, Thomas (Judy) Tender and Gregory (Judy) Tender, all of Burgettstown; three sisters, Kathy (Lee) McBee of Langeloth, Gerri Smitsky of Washington and Pauline Tender of Burgettstown; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Malek of Joliet, Ill.; and a brother-in-law, Don Malek of Joliet. He also leaves behind the family dog, Spunky. Deceased is a sister, Barbara Robertson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of a blessing service, Monday, April 16, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Father Thomas D. O'Neil officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be given to the family.
