Self-employed carpenter with Garrett Construction
David (Scott) Garrett, 48, of Washington, died Monday, April 16, 2007, in Washington Hospital, following an 18-month illness.
Mr. Garrett was born October 10, 1958, in Washington, a son of Esther Kowcheck of Avella and the late David Lee Garrett.
He was a graduate of Avella High School.
Mr. Garrett was self-employed as a carpenter with Garrett Construction for 28 years.
He enjoyed classic cars, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, hunting, fishing and antique tractor pulling. He was a member of Raccoon Sportmen Club in Avella and helped Future Farmers of America at Washington County Fair.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Keller Garrett; stepfather Hugh Kowcheck of Avella; two brothers, Eric M. Kowcheck and Mark (Theresa) Kowcheck, both of Wellsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Danielle (Patrick) Clemens of Washington and Lee Ann (Wayne) Bass of Erwin, N.C.; four nieces, Jentzen, Karleigh, Tristan and Jocelyn Kowcheck; and a nephew, Drake Kowcheck.
Deceased, in addition to his father, are his previous wife, Linda Mounts Kosek Garrett; and a brother, Daniel Blake Kowcheck.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., the hour of a blessing service, Thursday, April 19, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
