Former unit secretary at Washington Hospital Aldean S. Giecek, 85, of Washington, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2003, in Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a six-month illness. She was born July 28, 1917, in Marianna, a daughter of Peter and Victoria Bercosky. Mrs. Giecek was employed as a unit secretary at Washington Hospital for 24 years. She was a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington, Polish National Alliance and Christian Mothers. Mrs. Giecek was a 1935 graduate of East Bethlehem High School. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. On September 15, 1940, she married Joseph M. Giecek, who died May 13, 1988. Surviving are three sons, Donald Giecek of Centerville, Va., and Richard and Joseph Giecek, both of Washington; a sister, Ruth Cohen of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Donald Giecek, Tracy Stickley and Robert, Brent, Richard, Caroline, Patrick and Elizabeth Giecek; and three great-grandchildren. Deceased are four sisters, Ann Palmer, Mary Bercosky and Susan and Nellie Burke. GIECEK - Friends of Aldean S. Giecek of Washington, who died Saturday, January 25, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas O'Neil as celebrant. Interment will be in Washington Cemetery.
