Keith Rodney Sim

Keith Rodney Sim, 67, of Washington, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, in Washington Hospital after a brief illness. He was born September 9, 1935, in Canton Township, a son of Fred David and Lillian Hillberry Sim. Mr. Sim was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. He had worked as an agent for Prudential Insurance and later managed Arrow Life Insurance Agency, a subsidiary of Millcraft Industries. He was a partner in York Realty Insurance Co. prior to establishing K.R. Sim Insurance. Mr. Sim later served as maintenance supervisor at Mt. Lebanon Manor and Washington County Health Center, from where he retired. He was past president and president emeritus of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, Washington-Greene Chapter, and served on the state executive committee. Mr. Sim served on the board of directors of Millcraft Industries, Washington Industrial Development Corp., Volunteers in Probation, United Way, Washington County Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Parents Anonymous and Washington Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was district chairman of the Cancer Crusade and American Heart Fund, district finance chairman of Boy Scouts of America, first vice president of Optimist Club and president of Brownson House Youth Athletics. Mr. Sim was honored by Goodwill Industries in 1984 for 25 years service to disadvantaged children and adults, was listed in the National Regiser of Who's Who in Pennsylvania in 1974 for outstanding contributions to Pennsylvania Youth, and was named Coach of the Year by the Observer-Reporter. He served as a youth football coach from 1964 to 1977, a youth basketball coach from 1965 to 1969 and a boxing coach from 1974 to 1978. On December 30, 1955, he married Rosalie Kotchar, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Debra Hickman, Diana Janflone and Dawn Sim, all of Washington; two sisters, Wilma Logsdon and Sally Eustis of Washington; two grandchildren, Lauren Forgie and Jillian Janflone. Deceased are five brothers, Herbert, Alfred, Charles and Norman, and infant brother, Fred; and an infant sister, Mae. SIM - Friends of Keith Rodney Sim of Washington, who died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 11, with Elder William Foflygen officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. The family requests donations be made to Brownson House, 1415 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
