Robert Wilbur Simpson

Robert W. Simpson, 85, of Eighty Four, died Monday, January 6, 2003, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1917, in Washington, a son of Jonathan Chauncey and Lena Jane Day Simpson. Mr. Simpson attended Washington High School. He was a member of Trinity Bible Fellowship in Washington. Mr. Simpson was veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked for more than 30 years as a rural mail carrier for R.D.4 and R.D.6 in the Washington area. On May 1, 1940, he married his first wife, Clara Iva Hixon, who died October 7, 1982. On April 22, 1984, he married his second wife, Evelyn Jordon, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert C. Simpson of Washington; three daughters, Barbara Ellen Levia of Sudbury, Mass., Carolyn Lorraine Shoup of Washington and Leticia Louise Stark of Hampstead, Md.; a stepson, Earl Jordon of Florida; three stepdaughters, Mary Jane Mazutis of Houston, Hazel Heil of South Carolina and Patricia Crawford of Eighty Four; a brother, Wayne Simpson of Silver Lake, Wash.; nine grandchildren, Chance and Paige Parker, David C. Levia, Todd and Eric Shoup, Robert and Jonathan Simpson, Heather Provenzano and Jennifer Stark; 10 stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. SIMPSON - Friends of Robert W. Simpson of Eighty Four, who died Monday, January 6, 2003, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 9, with the Rev. John Rathbone officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. The family requests donations to Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
