Lone Pine Christian Church choir director
Judith F. Lindley, 63, of Lone Pine, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, in Donnell House, Washington, after a two-year battle with cancer.
She was born December 1, 1939, in Danville, a daughter of Martha S. Ficca of West Long Branch, N.J., and the late S. Charles Ficca.
Mrs. Lindley had a bachelor's of science degree in biology from Pennsylvania State University and earned her master's degree in music education at Ithaca College.
She taught biology, English and music and was a choral director in several countries.
Mrs. Lindley worked as a consultant for International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) over periods of time when she and her family lived in Rome, Italy.
After returning to the United States, she was choir director of Lone Pine Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church and recently had directed the choir at Christian Church Regional Assembly.
Mrs. Lindley was active in the organization of Ten Mile Protection Network, aimed at educating community members about damages caused by subsidence of longwall mining.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, William Lindley; a daughter, Beth; two sons, Jeffrey and Gregory; and a brother, Charles S. Ficca of West Long Branch.
LINDLEY - Friends of Judith F. Lindley of Lone Pine, who died Wednesday, January 29, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and from 10:30 a.m. until noon, the hour of services, Saturday, February 1, in Lone Pine Christian Church, with the Rev. Norman Hunt and the Rev. James L. Kent officiating. Contributions may be made to Music Memorial Fund of Lone Pine Christian Church, which is being established in her honor.
