Duane Earl Foringer, 76, of Washington, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in Washington Hospital following a lingering illness.
He was born August 24, 1930, in Washington, a son of Albert John and Ruth Hannam Foringer.
Mr. Foringer attended Washington High School. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, RoKPuce and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on January 21, 1956, with a rank of Airman, first class.
Mr. Foringer was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church and enjoyed sports and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On August 9, 1958, he married Phyllis Ann Doak, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis (Bev) Foringer of Hickory; two daughters, Deborah Foringer and Brenda Foringer, both of Washington; two brothers, James Foringer of Washington and Lawrence Amos of Columbia, South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy Jean Naser and Ruby Chaney, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Christopher Foringer and Tiffany Totterdale; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Totterdale and Kaylee Foringer.
Deceased is a sister, Janice Simpson.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007, with Rev. George A. Garancosky officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
