Leon Basil Abraham, 80, of Avella, PA, died at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2004 at the Breese Personal Care Home. He had been ill since 1996. He was born on July 25, 1924, in Braddock, PA, a son of Isaac and Florence Patton Abraham.
Mr. Abraham worked as the chief chemist at the Moly Corporation for 30 years.
Mr. Abraham was a Deacon at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the former Chaplain at the Washington Hospital. He was also the fire chief at the Taylorstown Fire Department for 6 years.
Mr. Abraham graduated high school and attended college.
On June 15, 1947, he married Norma Jean Mitchell, who survives. Also surviving are 4 daughters, Carol Marion (Christopher) of Washington, PA; Patricia Piatt (Donald) of Washington, PA; Sandy Cerciello (Kip) and Mary Beth Conkey (Tony), both of Avella, PA; 7 grandchildren, Kelly Chubb, Lisa Osko, Aaron, Nathan and Natalie Cerciello, Kevin and Andrew Hamilton; and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends of Leon Basil Abraham, who died Friday, December 3, 2004 will be received from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004, with Father Edward Bryce as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA.
