Betty Jane Hackney, 79, of Washington, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2004, in Donnell House, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 30, 1925, in Grafton, W.Va., a daughter of Delbert W. and Frankie Currey Bunner.
Mrs. Hackney was a graduate of Washington High School and a member of First United Methodist Church in Washington.
For 13 years, she worked in a cafeteria for Trinity Area School District.
Mrs. Hackney was a member of Washington Chapter 409 Order of Eastern Star.
She enjoyed singing, sewing and gardening.
On August 15, 1948, she married Kenneth C. Hackney, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey and Greg Hackney, both of Washington; a daughter, Diane Chenney of Washington; a brother, D. Dale Bunner of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Dustin and Matthew Chenney and Kayla Hackney.
Deceased are three brothers, Roland, Robert C. and Max E. Bunner.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 18, with the Rev. R. Duane Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Disease, Alliance of Western Pennsylvania, 5180 Campbells Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205; or First United Methodist Church, 29 North College Street, Washington, PA 15301.
