Betty Jean Christman

Betty Jean Christman, 81, of Washington, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, in The Washington Hospital. She was born March 10, 1927, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of George Wilbur and Marie Welsh Hoffman. Mrs. Christman was a secretary for Koppers, Incorporated for three years, and a member of Pinochle Club in McMurray and the Century Club. She was Protestant. On March 28, 1979, she married Richard Christman, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Robert John (Lisa) Shulnes of Charleroi, Richard James Christman of Temecula, California, and John Frederick Christman of Lawton, Oklahoma; two daughters, Debra Jean Eckenrode of Washington and Wendy Lee Christman of Sacramento, California; three grandchildren, Rita Eckenrode, Lee Eckenrode and Lesley Eckenrode; seven step grandchildren, Aleece, Holly and David Gaddis, Michael, Mark and Vanessa Christman, and Stacey Nolles; and six great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Janet Beth Shulnes; and a sister, Marie Matthews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, with Rev. David Turner officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Covenant Building Fund, 267 East Beau Street, Washington PA 15301.
